Specialty: Baby Squash: Supply is short due to cold weather in the fields; prices are up. French Beans are moving up in price while Yellow Wax Beans are still very reasonable; prices will rise as we get closer to the holidays. Only Brown Figs are still available; quality remains good …


Stone Fruit: Chilean stone fruit is tight this week; distributors are all waiting on arrival of a vessel Wednesday; peaches nectarines, and plums will be short until then. Apricots, Red and Rainer Cherries are all good; prices are still on the high side...


Tomato Report: Tomato pricescontinueto rise unchecked; better supplies and prices are 7 - 10 days away. Roma tomatoes are up this week too. Grape and Cherry Tomatoes: Prices are riding the coat tails of the regular tomato market; prices are up. Heirloom Tomatoes: Local growers are finishing their season; prices are high. Cluster Tomatoes are this week’s only deal....

Lettuce Report: Iceberg and leaf growers are finally getting their way with prices; fob’s are up this week; quality remains good; Baby arrugula is beginning to recover; quality is much improved over last weeks offerings....


Berry News: New crop Strawberries have started; rain has had minimal effect on quality; as long as we get dry weather we should; be okay. Raspberry prices are definitely stronger this week. Blackberries and Blueberries are up but not as sharply as raspberries….

Fruit Report: Apples and Pears: New crop Washington fruit is very strong; all varieties or apples are available; pear selection includes 20th Century Asian Pears, Forelli, Seckle, Crimson Red, Bosc, and D’anjou . Avocados: Mexican fruit continues to be very good; prices are down. Citrus: Texas Grapefruit and Valencia orange quality remains excellent; Small Lemons are up; Limes are unchanged; Choice California Navel oranges are much lower this week. Grapes: Chilean fruit is a week away; California Thompson quality is poor; don’t get too far ahead. Cantaloupe pricing is easier this week; Guatemalan fruit is arriving; Small Honeydews continue to have light sugar; quality and price is better on larger fruit. Maui Pineapples are still having problems; Costa Rica has better quality lower priced fruit now.....

Vegetable Report: Artichokes: Supplies are still short; prices remain high. Asparagus: Prices are much higher; demand is strong and supply is light. Blue Lake Beans: Quality is good; prices are off. Broccoli: Export demand is pushing prices higher; quality is very good. Cauliflower: Cool weather is limiting supply; prices are up. Celery: Prices are off. Cabbage: This market remains unchanged. Carrots: No change in prices. Cucumbers: Quality is good; prices are low; Hothouse cucumbers are cheap too; quality is good. Eggplant: Prices are unchanged on Globes; Japanese and Chinese eggplant are having quality problems; prices are up. Onions: Brown, red, and white onions prices are low. Peppers: No change; all colors are plentiful and reasonable. Zucchini: Supply and quality are good; prices are low. Gold Zucchini is good too. Straightneck quality is excellent; prices are low. ** Please note; Rain forecast in Mexico may have adverse affect on pricing; Eggplant, Cucumbers, Squash, and the like could be heading up if the weather turns…
