Specialty:
Fuyu Persimmons are now available; hachiya variety is a few weeks away. Pomegranates remain plentiful and quality is very good. Baby squashes and French haricot vert beans are extremely limited; prices have skyrocketed. Baby Kiwi’s are now available.…



Stone Fruit:
Peaches and Nectarines are winding down; quality remains good and prices are steady; Pluot varieties are very limited; Empress, Red and black plums are available; Dapple Dandy and Elephant Hearts are finished for the California season…


Tomato Report: Prices remain flat on 2 layer and gas green loose tomatoes; quality is very good. Roma tomato supplies are still snug out of Mexico; are firming unchanged. Grape Tomatoes: Prices remain low. Cherry Tomatoes: Quality is good; prices are low. Heirloom Tomatoes: Varieties are limited and prices are firming up. Cluster tomato prices remain low...


Lettuce Report:
No real changes; Iceberg remains in the teens and the other leaf is lower; look for higher romaine prices this week as growers are struggling with quality caused by the hot weather a couple of weeks ago. Spinach quality is improving; prices are off...


Berry News: Strawberry pricing us unchanged and quality is only fair on all labels; Black and Raspberries are quality is mediocre as well and pricing is very strong; Blueberries are still short; growers are mostly pack in the smaller 4 oz clams; prices are strong....

Fruit Report: Avocados: We are expecting only 3 more weeks of California fruit; prices are stable; Mexican and Chilean will both be available and we will make the switch when necessary. Citrus: Grapefruit prices are unchanged; Lemons and Limes are strong. California Valencia’s are good; prices are unchanged. Figs: Most are black mission with a few brown Turks and greens; quality is still good. Grapes: Grapes quality remains good; Red seedless is a little short; prices are up. Small Cantaloupes and Honeydews are short; prices and quality is better on the larger fruit. Watermelon prices have taken off again; quality is not very good. Pineapples remain short and pricing is high. New crop D’anjou pears are now available.....

Vegetable Report: Artichokes: Choke supplies and prices are unchanged. Asparagus: Prices continue to rise to new record levels; product remains very short; expect is still sizing smaller than usual. Blue Lake Beans: Quality is good and prices are unchanged. Broccoli: Prices are moving up; product is short. Cauliflower: Availability is currently much better; prices are weakening. Celery: Quality is short; prices are up. Cabbage: Green and Red have both moved up. Carrots: No change in prices; supplies are back to normal. Corn: Quality is very good; prices are steady. Cucumbers: Supply is very light and prices are high. Eggplant: Quality is still good; prices are down. Onions: Brown, red, and white onions prices are low. Peppers: Green, Red and Gold bell pepper quality remains good; prices are unchanged. Zucchini: Product is in very good supply; quality is good and prices are low. Straightneck; No changes; quality so good and prices unchanged; Gold Zucchini is in good supply and quality is good; prices are low...
