Fruit: Cherries and Apricots are finished until New Zealand and Chile begin; Peaches are still good with nice large fruit still coming in from the high desert; Nectarines and Plums are holding their own; quality is good and prices are fair.… |
Tomato
Report: Prices are easing up on 2 layers; gas green loose tomatoes are winding down in Northern California; prices are weaker. Roma tomato supplies are light out of Mexico and prices are firming up. Grape Tomatoes: Prices remain low. Cherry Tomatoes: Quality is good; prices are low. Heirloom Tomatoes: Prices are firm. Cluster tomato prices remain low.... |

Lettuce
Report: Iceberg growers are maintaining their price margins; romaine, green leaf, and red leaf prices are beginning fade. Spinach prices have perked up in response to last months recall; product is a little short and quality is good...

Berry
News: Berry growers are struggling with quality caused by hot temperatures in the field; Strawberry prices are up. Black and Raspberries are difficult too; prices are up. Blueberries are becoming short; growers are beginning to pack in the smaller 4 oz clams; prices are strong.... |
Fruit
Report: Avocados: California fruit is the best available and prices beginning to weaken; Chilean is available now but the price is no real bargain and the quality inferior. Citrus: Grapefruit prices are unchanged; Lemons are strong. Limes are firm and quality only fair. California Valencia’s are good; prices are unchanged. Figs: Most are black mission; quality is good and prices are beginning to perk up. Grapes: Grapes quality remains good; Red seedless is a little short; prices are up. Small Cantaloupes and Honeydews are short; prices and quality is better on the larger fruit. Watermelon prices have taken off again; quality is still good. Pineapples are red hot; Hawaiian pineapples are in a small gap and South American jet fresh fruit is demanding premium prices. New crop D’anjou pears are now available..... |

Report: Artichokes: Choke supplies and prices are unchanged. Asparagus: All sizes are short and prices are very strong; expect everything to size smaller than usual. Blue Lake Beans: Quality is good and prices are down. Broccoli and Cauliflower: These two have been riding a price roller coaster; currently it is heading back up as product is short. Celery: Quality is suffering and prices are up. Cabbage: Green is still higher than red. Carrots: No change in prices; supplies are back to normal. Corn: Quality is very good on the Northern California crop; prices are perking up. Cucumbers: Supply is light and prices are up. Eggplant: Heat is affecting quality; prices are up. Onions: Brown onions prices are low; no change in reds or whites. Peppers: Green bells are steady; prices are low; Red and Gold bells are in light supply; prices are high. Zucchini: Growers have good supply and quality is nice; prices are low. Straightneck is in getting short; prices are up; Gold Zucchini is in good supply and quality is good; prices are low... |
