Report: Prices are on the rise as east coast demand is pushing local markets higher. Roma tomatoes remain strong on Mexican fruit. Grape Tomatoes: Prices remain low. Cherry Tomatoes: Quality is good; prices are low. Heirloom Tomatoes: Local growers are winding down production; prices are up. Supplies Cluster tomato remain low.... |
Lettuce
Report: For the first time all summer we have a market; prices are moving up on iceberg and leaf mostly due to east coast demand; quality is an issue too as growers fight mildew problems. Spinach is very short on both conventional and baby product; prices are up...

News: Strawberries: Strawberries are short and prices are up. Blackberries and Raspberries are struggling with quality after brief rains in the north; product is weak. Blueberries are having real problems with last week’s rain; prices are up sharply.... |
Fruit
Report: Avocados: Prices will continue to rise until Mexican fruit arrives in about four weeks. Citrus: Grapefruit prices are unchanged; Lemons are up on all sizes. Limes are up due to the hurricane set to hit the Yucatan Peninsula this week; expect higher prices later this week. California Valencia’s are very good; prices are unchanged. Figs: Warm weather in the desert is good for this commodity; quality is good and prices are low. Grapes: All Grapes are of excellent quality; prices are low. Cantaloupes and Honeydews are all good; mixed melons are finished except for a few Canary, Crenshaw, and Casaba. Watermelon prices up some but are still low..... |

Report: Artichokes: Choke supplies are light; prices are strong. Asparagus: Mostly Peruvian now; prices are off except for jumbo size. Blue Lake Beans: Quality is good and prices are high. Broccoli: Export demand continues to make the local market strong. Cauliflower: Prices are following the broccoli market. Celery: Prices have leveled off. Cabbage: Green is very short and prices are up; red remains cheap. Carrots: Prices have leveled off; supplies are back to normal. Corn: Quality is very good as we move to the Northern California crop; prices are cheap. Cucumbers: Supply is long and prices are low. Eggplant: Globe Eggplant is short; prices are up. Onions: Brown onions prices are down; no change in reds or whites. Peppers: Green bells are steady; prices are low; Red and Gold bells are in light supply; prices are high. Zucchini: Growers have good supply of good quality Italian; prices are low. Straightneck is in good supply also; prices are low; Gold Zucchini is in light supply and quality is mediocre; prices are a little high... |
