Specialty: There is a full array of specialty beans including Haricot Vert, Purple Wax, Romano, and Dragon Tongue. Baby zucchini with flowers and squash blossoms are in good supply; Lychee nuts have started, color is slightly green....


Stone Fruit: Cherries from California are finishing up, new crop Washington is right behind; Quality of the Rainier cherry is not too good; we recommend waiting on new crop. Saturn Peaches are very large and sweet as candy...

Tomato Report: Prices have leveled off and quality is still very good. Roma tomatoes are down this week. Grape Tomatoes: Supply is still good and prices remain low. Cherry Tomatoes: Quality is much improved; prices remain firm. Heirloom Tomatoes: Local growers are just getting started; supplies are improving and prices are unchanged. We now have Rosso Bruno and Sardinia Cocktail tomatoes....


Lettuce Report: Iceberg prices are firming up as growers curtail production to help prop up prices; leaf remains cheap and quality is very good...

Berry News: Strawberries: Cool nighttime temperatures is having an affect on quality, fruit is showing a lot of there is a lot of white tips and shoulders. Blacks, Blues, and Raspberries are all locally grown now; quality is good and prices are low. Gold Champagne Raspberries are abundant, quality is very good ....

Fruit Report: Avocados: No change in price. Citrus: Grapefruit prices are unchanged; Lemon prices are down on smaller sizes. No change in Lime pricing. California Valencia’s are in good supply; sugar is good and prices have leveled off. Figs: Brown Turkish and black Mission figs are more plentiful by the day; quality is excellent. Grapes: California Black, Red, and Green seedless are very good, prices are low: Cantaloupe prices are firming up; best quality is on 9 and 12 count. Honeydew prices are coming down. Watermelon is very good, yellow seedless are also available. We are featuring Tuscan Sweet and Pureheart petite watermelons from Dulcinea this week, quality is excellent; please ask your rep for some samples.....

Vegetable Report: Artichokes: Small loose chokes are very short, prices are strong. Asparagus: Prices are stable; quality is very good. Blue Lake Beans: Quality is very good and prices are unchanged. Broccoli: Prices remain low. Cauliflower: Prices have come down and availability is good. Celery: Growers are coming out of 3 districts; prices are off. Cabbage: Red and green are both down slightly. Carrots: Growers are catching up with demand; prices are coming down slowly. Corn: Coachella is winding down and Northern growers are stepping in; prices are unchanged and quality is very good. Cucumbers: Supply remains long and prices are steady. Eggplant: Desert Globe Eggplant is good; prices are unchanged. Onions: Brown onion prices are perking up; no change in reds or whites. Peppers: Green bells are steady; Red and Gold prices are down again. Zucchini: Prices are low. Coachella Straightneck is still good and prices are low; Gold Zucchini is improved, prices are down ...

As with all fresh fruits and vegetables, the market could change daily . . .
