Tomato
Report: San Diego, California is receiving good volume of tomatoes and Romas. Grape Tomatoes: Grape tomatoes supplies are still very limited and the demand has dropped. Expect lighter supplies until next month when production increase from Florida. |

Lettuce
Report: Lettuce is available for loading out of Salinas, Santa Maria and Huron California. The demand has increase slightly and the market has done the same. Production is Huron is at full capacity. As usual Huron is a mixed bag with small framed, misshapen heads and a wide range of weights. While production out of Salinas continues to decrease.

Berry
News: Strawberries: The strawberry market price has decreased slightly due to lack of demand. The harvest from Salinas/Watsonville, California will continue to decrease as the season winds down. Some berries have white shoulders with occasional bruising/ Overripe fruit is being reported from Salinas/Castroville, California growing areas. Growers in Santa Maria, California are starting to see volume increase and this trend should continue through the week because the growing conditions are ideal. Raspberries: Supplies are limited because of the warmer weather last month. Expect soft fruit which cause breakage. The rains have also created a mold issue. Blackberries: Supplies are very limited due to recent rainfall.

Fruit
Report: Mangos: Still a quality issue regarding the color and firmness of the fruit. Mexican growers have shut down production for the season. Expecting a new arrival from Ecuador. Baby Kiwi: New crop coming out of Oregon is in a gap due to heavy rains. Rambutan: are in great supplies from Honduras. Mangosteen: From Thailand are available again. Good supplies and fresh shipments due weekly. Passion Fruit: California and Florida both have good supplies for the next few weeks. Limes: Currently being imported from Eastern Mexico. Expect good quality with a nice green color. Asian Pears: The California season for brown-skinned Shinsui variety pears is in full swing! Apples: Market continues to be tight, new crop should be in full swing within the next few weeks. Honeydew: Production is dropping off quickly especially on larger sizes. Next week growers are expecting minimal supply going forward until Arizona starts in October. Ya Li Pears: The California season has just started up. Seedless Grapes: from California great taste with large berries. |
Vegetable
Report: Bell Peppers: The Green Bell Pepper The green bell pepper market is extremely active because supplies from Central and Northern California are very light and most shippers are finishing up for the year. The quality from California is fair to good. The Red Bell Pepper market is steady but could get very active this week as supplies decrease from the California Coastal growing regions. The quality is fair to good. Artichokes: Production expected to decrease. Prices are higher with good quality. Asparagus: Expect available supplies to increase during the week as Peruvian imports increase, along with production out of Mexico. Avocados: Are coming out of Chili. Shipments to the U.S. have increased. Expect the larger sizes to be limited smaller sizes are readily available. We are receiving avocados from Mexico and Peru by request only. Purple Potatoes: are available but the market is high on them and they are very limited. Cauliflower: Steady supplies are expected in the next three weeks with good size and weight. The market is expected to get better once Canada starts looking for California product. Quality remains very good with rock solid heads. The color is nice and white with trimmed green jackets. Celery: Good supplies of all sizes available. Quality is good and prices should be steady for the time being. Shallots: New crop out of the US has arrived. Good supplies. Cucumbers: The market on cucumbers is steady. The quality from San Diego and Nogales is good. Onions: Onions are in good supply and prices are holding steady for the week. Red and Baby Yams: A new crop of yams out of California. Prices have come down |
