Tomato Report: The market for Mexican tomatoes has tightened considerably, particularly for the medium sized tomatoes. Prices are on the rise not only for round tomatoes, but also Roma, grape, and cherry tomatoes.

Lettuce Report: Iceberg, Romaine, and Leaf lettuces continue to be in good supply and prices continue to be at a great buy this week.

Berry News: Due to the heavy rainfall in Mexico last week, the strawberry market is very volatile, prices are high and quality is okay. Rain has also affected production in Southern and Baja California. This will result in continued tight availability and high prices. Mexican raspberry and blackberry production remains steady, while availability has improved somewhat for blueberries from Chile.

Fruit Report: Minneolas, pummelos, blood oranges, and clementines are all available. Due to the heavy rains in Mexico limes are in short supply resulting in higher prices. Pineapples from Coast Rica are in good supply. Tight supplies and high prices continue for cantaloupes. Honeydews are in better supply especially on the 6 count. Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Fuji, Grannysmith, Gala, and Braeburn are all in good supply. California kiwi is in tight supply. Red and black plums are in good supply.

Vegetable Report: Bunched broccoli and broccoli crowns are in good supply. Celery is in good supply and prices steady. Asparagus from Mexico is in good supply. Availability has tightened on arrugula. Bunched spinach, cilantro, parsley, napa, leek, curly and Italian parsley are in good supply. Demand has increased for yellow, red, and white onions resulting in prices starting to trend higher. White onion prices have trended upward due to extremely short supply left in storage, and a rain-delayed start to the new crop harvest in Mexico. Green beans and yellow squash are in extreme limited supply. Prices have firmed for zucchini and eggplant. Cucumbers are starting to trend downward in price due to supplies increasing.

As with all fresh fruits and vegetables, the market could change daily . . .
