In Season Right Now: Minneolas, Romanesco, Black Arkansas, Gold Kiwi, Asian Pears, Black Radish, Comice Pears, Celery Root, D’Angou Pears, Mandarins, Black Garlic, Pummelos.

Important Market Update: Due to the recent cold freezing temperatures in Florida many items are being affected. Please, check with your sales rep for further information

Tomato Report: Due to the cold and freezing temperatures in Florida production has become limited resulting in Mexico being the primary supplier of tomatoes. Prices are continuing to rise for round slicing tomatoes, Roma tomatoes, cherry and grape tomatoes.

Lettuce Report: Improved weather conditions have resulted in Iceberg and Romaine trending downward in price as production improved. We are still seeing quality issues but these issues are expected to be behind us by early February.

Berry News: Limited availability and high prices continue for strawberries. Raspberries continue to be in tight supply, but blackberry production and supplies have improved. Blueberry pricing has come down as a result of the improved production coming out of Chile.

Fruit Report: The cold weather conditions in Florida have not yet damaged the orange crops due to the production coming out of Southern Florida. Small sized lemons (165’s, 200’s, and 235’s) will continue to be in tight supply until the harvest begins in Ventura County. Tangerines, Minneolas, clementines, and pummelos are available and in good supply. Pineapples from Central America are in good supply. Mexican limes are in tight supply due to the recent rainfall. Prices are firm for cantaloupes coming out of Central American. Honeydews are overall in better supply at a better price. Prices and supplies are steady for Mexican watermelons. Availability has improved for Bartlett, Bosc, and D’Anjou pears. Chilean grapes have started to come in resulting in pricing trending downward from the extreme levels we have been seen. California kiwi is in good supply.

Vegetable Report: The recent cold weather conditions in Florida have created a strong demand for Mexican vegetables out of Nogales.  Availability has tightened and prices have risen upward for cucumbers, tomatoes, green bell peppers, zucchini, yellow squash, green beans, and eggplant.  The market is firming for large sized carton packed Idaho Russets.  White onions are in very tight supply this week.  Bunched broccoli and broccoli crowns are in good supplies.  The supply and price outlook is improving for cauliflower.  Availability is improving on leeks, with increased supplies for cilantro and Italian parsley.  The asparagus season in Mexico is now beginning, however, prices are still firm but are expected to improve as more growers begin harvesting next week.

As with all fresh fruits and vegetables, the market could change daily . . .
