New Item: #5801, Frozen Cranberries, 24/12 oz. This week’s price is $35.

Tomato Report: Round slicing tomatoes are in very short supply at high prices in Florida and Baja California (shipped from San Diego). The tomato harvest in Central Mexico has yet to get underway. Roma tomatoes are in better availability by comparison, however prices have begin to trend upward.

Lettuce Report: Transition complete to Yuma.  Although prices have started to come down, weather is now a problem.  Cold weather and possible storms this week will tighten supplies.

Berry News: Availability is tightening for strawberries as we approach the holiday season.  There are some strawberries available out of Oxnard whitle the strawberry harvest in Central Mexico has been off to a slow start.  Driscoll blackberries are in good supply in Mexico, and prices are very competitive.  Availability for raspberries is steady while blueberries from Argentina are in limited supply; the result of cold, wet weather conditions.  The blueberry harvest in Chile is not yet up to full production resulting in tight supplies.

Fruit Report: Lemons are in good supply, with the exception of the small sizes (165, 200 & 235).  Central American pineapple is in good supply.  New crop limes from Mexico are in plentiful supply for the large sized 110s & 150s.  Prices for Mexican seedless watermelon are on the rise as the harvest winds down in Northern Mexico. California black seedless grapes are available at steady prices.  Satsuma mandarins, Fairchild tangerines, pummelos, Oro Blancos, Clementine mandarins and Minneola tangelos are all available.  Prices are strong for late season Mexican honeydews in Nogales.  Cantaloupes from Central America are available and prices are at a great buy.

Vegetable Report: Prices have eased for bunched broccoli, broccoli crowns and cauliflower. High prices and limited availability describes the situation for bok choy, napa, curly parley and Italian parsley this week. Great supplies and good prices continue for cucumbers, zucchini and yellow squash. Availability for red bell peppers is also increasing with the new crop harvest starting in Mexico. Onions are also in oversupply with excellent quality and competitive prices. Supplies will remain tight for jumbo carrots and prices strong until the harvest begins in February in the Imperial Valley. Major problem with supply of celery, it will be in tight supply over next few weeks.

As with all fresh fruits and vegetables, the market could change daily . . .
