Tomato
Report: There will no increase in supply for round tomatoes until the harvest begins in the Culiacan region of Mexico. Roma tomatoes prices are trending downward in price and quality is improving |
|
Lettuce
Report: California growers continue to battle the shortage of romaine and other row crop items, due to unseasonable weather conditions that occurred during September and October in Central California. Prices continue to advance to extreme levels, with Act of God clauses now in effect from the salad processors. Product is beginning to come out of Yuma, so hopefully some price relief will be coming soon.

Berry
News: Strawberries are in tight supply once again due to Watsonville-Salinas season finishing. Pricing is starting to trend downward for blackberries and raspberries due to the increase in production out of Mexico. Blueberries from Argentina are now available, which will help in prices coming down and quality is improved. |
Fruit
Report: We continue to have both Chilean and Mexican avocados available; however Mexican avocados are the only ones that we recommend. The Florida citrus harvest is now in full production, including Navels, grapefruit, and tangerines which will help out the nationwide supply. The California grapefruit season has ended and we are only selling Texas grapefruit. Satsuma mandarins, Fairchild tangerines, and Clementine’s are now available. Supplies have grown tighter for Mexican limes due to the transition we are in between growing fields. Central American pineapple is in good supply. Fuji apples and Bartlett pears are in good supply. New crop kiwi, pomegranates, Asian pears, and fuyu and hachiya persimmons are now available. |
Vegetable
Report: Green bell peppers are in good supply out of Coachella. Red bell and yellow peppers are in okay supplies. Potatoes demand is fair and prices are at a great buy. Prices are starting to trend upward for bunched broccoli, broccoli crowns, cauliflower, and celery. Cilantro, green onions, leeks, and kale are all in good supply. The transition from Central California to the southwestern desert, will be in tight supply for these items curly and Italian parsely, napa, bok choy, red cabbage, and bunch spinach will be in tight supply this week. |
