In Season Right Now: Honeycrisp Apples, Passion Fruit, Asian Pears, Black Radish, Comice Pears, Celery Root, D’Angou Pears, Rambutan, Black Garlic, Pomegranate, Romano Beans, Persimmons, Pummelos, Curry Squash.

New Item: Bucherondin, 3.85 lb. #5791 France, Goat’s milk. Soft, bloom rind. Soft ripening outer edge of pure goat milk flavor.

Tomato Report: Tomatoes continue to be in extremely tight supply due to growing conditions in the various growing regions.  Recent cold weather in Baja California and Mexico has caused a gap in production.  In addition, an extended period of unseasonably hot weather that occurred in Florida during September and October has resulted in damage to their tomato crop.

Lettuce Report: California growers continue to battle the shortage of romaine and other row crop items, the result of unseasonable weather conditions that occurred during September and October in Central California coastal districts…rain, heat, wind and humidity. Prices for romaine have advanced to extreme levels, with Act of God clauses now in effect from the salad processors.

Berry News: Strawberry production has rebounded.  Although a wide range in quality exists, the strawberry harvest in Central California districts has produced surprisingly high quality late season berries for many growers. Production continues to increase for Mexican blackberries and raspberries; prices have dropped to favorable levels.  Blueberries from Argentina are now available, and Chile is also starting.

Fruit Report: We continue to have both Chilean and Mexican avocados available; however Mexican avocados are the only ones that we recommend. Lemons are in good supply, with product available from a number of areas, including Western Arizona, California and Mexico. Desert Ruby grapefruit is now available for shipment from Central Arizona. Clementines are in good supply. Supplies have tightened for Mexican limes, as we are currently in a period of transition between growing areas. Fuji apples and Bartlett pears are in good supply. California kiwi, pomegranates, Asian pears, Fuyu & Hachiya persimmons, and pineapple are in good supply. New crop Navel oranges are plentiful; however, 138’s are still in tight supply.

Vegetable Report: Production is increasing for green bell peppers in the Coachella Valley, resulting in lower trending prices. There are also good supplies from Nogales. Red bell pepper availability in Southern California is adequate and prices are steady. Cucumbers, zucchini, yellow squash and eggplant are in plentiful out of Nogales. Price levels continue to trend higher for bunched broccoli, broccoli crowns and cauliflower, in addition, cold weather has slowed plant growth. Prices are trending higher for jumbo carrots and will remain firm through the holidays. Large sized celery is in tight supply during this period of cold weather.

As with all fresh fruits and vegetables, the market could change daily . . .
