In Season Right Now: Rambutan, Dragon Fruit, Rainer Cherries, Black Plums, Yellow Nectarines, Donut Peaches, Tuscan Melon, Black Apricots, Ogan Melons, Saturn Peaches, Champagne Grapes, Galia Melons.


Locally Grown: #5520, Locally Grown Arava Melon, 20#, grown out of Los Angeles County.


Tomato Report: Tomatoes are in good supply. Round, Roma, Grape, and Cherry are all in good supply and prices are at a good buy; this will continue through the month of August. Roma tomatoes are starting to trend upward in price as we begin to move to a new growing area.

Lettuce Report: Romaine continues to have quality issues, specifically mildew and fringe burn, in addition, prices have risen. An alternative would be Romaine Hearts. Iceberg and Leaf lettuces are in good supply, and prices are coming down.


Berry News: Strawberries are now heading toward a downward production and prices are expected to become higher due to high heat which has caused some quality issues. Raspberries and Blueberries are in good supply and prices are at a good buy. Blackberries are still having supply issues and availability is very limited, resulting in higher prices for this time of year.

Fruit Report: Continuing warm weather has resulted in a great supply and price for Cantaloupes and Honeydews. Plenty of varieties of melons are available.  See our Hot Sheet special on mixed melons.  California Valencia Orange season is now over. Watermelons are continuing to be in plentiful supplies, and prices are at great buy. Smaller size lemons (165’s & 200’s) are in limited supply.  Prices continue to remain high for California Hass Avocados.  Pineapple supplies are good and prices are firm.  New crop of Bartlett pears are now available.  All stone fruit is available especially great variety of plums. 

Vegetable Report: Celery is an oversupply situation and prices are at a great buy. Carrots are in good supply especially for Cello, Clip Top (table), and jumbo carrots. Broccoli is in good supply for bunched broccoli and broccoli crowns. Cauliflower continues to be in tight supply with high prices. Asparagus is in good supply. Leeks are at a very good buy, and quality is good. Green and Red cabbage, Bok Choy, Napa, Snow Peas, Kale, Cilantro, Curly Parsley, and Spinach are all in good supply. Italian parsley is in tight supply. Availability is good on medium sized artichokes, and production is looking to improve through the month of August. Green Bell and Red Bell Peppers are in good supply and prices are at a good buy. Yellow Bell Peppers are in limited supply Zucchini and Yellow Squash good buys.

As with all fresh fruits and vegetables, the market could change daily . . .
