In Season Right Now: Bing Cherries, Red Plums, Rainer Cherries, Black Plums, Yellow Nectarines, Donut Peaches, Saturn Nectarines, Black Apricots, Ogan Melons, Saturn Peaches, Champagne Grapes, Persian Melons.

Locally Grown: #4702, Locally Grown Cavaillion, 20#, Grown out of Los Angeles County.


Tomato Report: California is currently the primary growing region for tomatoes. Roma tomatoes continue to rise in price, in addition, when they are cut the seeds may be green in the inside. A good alternative are vine ripe tomatoes. Cherry and Grape tomatoes are in good supply.

Lettuce Report: Romaine continues to be in tight supply, and prices are rising. Iceberg, and leaf products are in good supply with prices firm. Mildew and occasional burn continue to affect quality for romaine, leaf, and iceberg.     

Berry News: Quality for late season strawberries has declined with smaller sized strawberries better in quality than larger ones. Growers are currently 20-25 percent down from peak harvest volume, this trend is expected to continue through late August. Supplies and prices are steady for raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries.    

Fruit Report: Due to the recent warming trend we will see an increase in supplies for Honeydews and Cantaloupes. Check out Hot Sheet Specials. Watermelons are in plentiful supplies. Limes are in good supply out of Mexico. Supplies on pineapple are steady, but are expected to start to trend downward. California lemon prices have reached peak levels for the season. Some Chilean lemons are available. Red and Black plums, and white nectarines are in good supply and at a great buy. Tight supplies continue on California Hass avocados. Availability is stead for Fuji, Golden Delicious, Granny Smith, and Red Delicious Apples. New crop Bartlett pears are beginning. California Valencia oranges are available but prices have risen, season is set to end by August.

Vegetable Report: Bunched Broccoli and Broccoli Crowns are continuing to be in good supply. Celery is in oversupply and prices are at a great buy. Supplies on carrots are steady. Leek production is increasing and prices are trending downward. Italian parsley continues to be in tight supply. Spring Mix, Organic Iceberg, Baby spinach, mache, and arugula are all in good supply. California cucumbers are starting to rise in price. Potato supplies are tight and prices continue to trend higher on the larger sizes. Prices continue to ease for yellow onions due to much more product becoming available. Jumbo size red onions are in tight supply with better availability for medium red onions. French Beans are in good supply (Check out this week's hot sheet special).

As with all fresh fruits and vegetables, the market could change daily . . .
