Locally Grown: #5521, Locally Grown Sugar Queen Melon, Grown out of Kern County.


Tomato Report: Roma tomatoes are continuing to move higher in price due to two major Ca. growers that planted no acreage this year.  Round tomatoes are expected to continue to rise in price for the next few weeks.  Cherry and Grape tomatoes are steady. 

Lettuce Report: Romaine is in tight supply and quality is still an issue.  Iceberg lettuce is in good supply, and prices are at a great buy.  Greenleaf lettuce is in good supply and prices are trending downward.      


Berry News: Strawberries are ingood supply, and quality is good. Raspberries are in good supply right now, and prices may start to decline.  Blackberries are still high in price due to the production volume being so low for this time of year.  Blueberries are coming out of the Pacific Northwest, quality is excellent, supplies are great.  Driscoll still the best product available.   

Fruit Report: Cantaloupes are in good supply with production in the desert almost done.  Honeydews are in good supply and quality is great.  Watermelon is in good supply and prices are trending downward.  Prices are still continuing to rise for large California lemons.  California Valencia oranges are in good supply, and best buy are on the small sizes 113’s & 138’s.  Limes are in good supply out of Mexico.  Supplies on pineapple are steady, and quality is great.  Black and red plums are in good supply (check out this weeks special on red plums).  Supplies are starting to tighten for California Hass avocados as the harvest begins to wind down.  Prices are expected to rise over the next few weeks.  Red Delicious apples are starting to rise in price.    

Vegetable Report: Bunched Broccoli and Broccoli Crowns are in good supply.  Celery is in oversupply and prices are at a great buy.  Supplies on carrots are steady.  Asparagus in great supply right now, and prices are at a good buy (check out this weeks special).  Green onions are in oversupply, and prices are the lowest they have been all year.  Green bell pepper supplies are improving, in addition, red bell peppers are in tight supply.  Zucchini and yellow squash are in good supply.  Jumbo red onions are very tight, but medium red’s are in great supply.  Potato market is firm but prices are expected to increase over the next few weeks on the larger sizes.  Eggplant is in good supply and prices are steady.  Leek is in tight supply, along with Italian parsley, due to quality issues. 

As with all fresh fruits and vegetables, the market could change daily . . .
