Tomato Report: Supplies continue to be good for Round, Roma, Cherry, and Grape tomatoes.  Cherry and Grape tomatoes continue to be at a good price.  Check out this week’s hot sheet special. 

Lettuce Report: Demand is getting stronger for Iceberg and Romaine, resulting in prices starting to rise.  We are seeing quality issues in Iceberg and Romaine, we are seeing some mildew in romaine and growth crack in Iceberg.  Greenleaf and Redleaf lettuce still remain firm this week. 


Berry News: The strawberry season in Mexico for Driscoll is winding down more quickly than anticipated; availability is tight for strawberries in Southern California and Mexico. Blueberries will be in tight supply until the harvest begins in the Northwest in May.  Raspberries availability is improving in Oxnard, while blackberries from Mexico are in good supply.  Check out our Locally Grown Strawberries on special this week.

Fruit Report: California Naval oranges are in good supply right now, and quality is great.  Lemons are in good supply right now.  Limes are going to be in tight supply; best deal on 200’s and 230’s.  Pineapple is coming out of Central America and supplies are starting to get tight.  Cantaloupe and Honeydew prices are steady, and quality is improving.  Prices have rebounded for watermelons, as the transition in growing areas is underway from Central Mexico northward to Hermosillo.  Green Seedless Grapes are in great supply and quality is good.  California Kiwi prices are starting to rise.  Plums and Nectarines are in good supply from Chile.  California Hass avocados are in good supply and quality is good. 

Vegetable Report: Green onion supplies continue to be steady. Kale, cilantro, leek, parsley, green cabbage, bok choy and snow peas are in good supply.  Market is rising on Red Cabbage and Napa Cabbage.  Arrugla and Mache production is increasing.  Baby spinach is in very short supply due to the mildew we have been seeing; however quality should be improving by next week.  Onions are in good supply and prices are firm.  Potato market has seen rising prices on 40’s through 100’s.  Cauliflower is in tight supply right now.  Carrots are in good supply and prices are holding firm.  Broccolini will be in short supply through the end of April.  Cucumbers are in short supply as production in Mexico has dropped significantly. 

As with all fresh fruits and vegetables, the market could change daily . . .
