Tomato Report: Round and Roma tomatoes are in good supply in Nogales, while prices for tomatoes in Florida have advanced to a moderate premium compared to the Mexican product.  Cherry tomatoes and grape tomatoes are in good supply.

Lettuce Report: The cold weather we had in December and January is causing Iceberg to have “ribby” appearance; which is causing prices to go up.  Greenleaf and Redleaf is in good supply. Romaine lettuce is holding firm on price and quality is good.


Berry News: Strawberries are still improving in both quality and price.  Also, don’t forget to ask your sales rep about our Locally Grown Strawberries (Great Price).  Raspberries are still in tight supply and prices are still taking off.  Blueberries have okay quality but prices are still a good buy.  Blackberries are coming out of Mexico, quality is good, and price is just right. 

Fruit Report: Smaller size Citrus market is struggling on supply.  We are seeing Cara Cara, moro blood oranges, pummelos, Clementine’s, and Minneola’s in the market.   Grapefruit has good quality and firm prices.  Due to some cold weather in Guatamala we are seeing supply issues for both Cantaloupes and Honeydews, so prices will be high.  Watermelons are also in tight supply resulting in high prices.   With Superbowl weekend fast approaching Avocados are starting to take off in price with the increase in demand.  Pineapple has good quality and supply is good. Stone fruit is still available from Chile.  Red seedless grapes are still high in price.   

Vegetable Report: Asparagus market is still struggling with sizing and quality.  Weather conditions have improved so we should see some improvement next week.  Green Onions supplies have returned back to normal after the holidays so prices are back to normal.  Spinach is still tight in supplies and prices are going up.  Spring Mix is in good supply and pices are normal.  Idaho potatoes are starting to take off and will probably continue through the end of the storage crop season.  Yellow onion prices are firming up as we end the harvesting in the Northeast but new supply will start from Mexico in early February. Cucumbers are very high in price and supply is short. Celery is still high in price and supply is short.      

As with all fresh fruits and vegetables, the market could change daily . . .
