In Season Right Now: Red Currants, Blood Oranges, Kumquats, Rainer Cherries, Romanesco.

Locally Grown: Organic Brussels Sprouts, Item #4763. Grown out of San Juan Batista, CA.

Tomato Report: Prices are starting to take off.  Rain is starting to slow up production, so we will see supply start to decrease. Roma tomatoes are a bit more active than round tomatoes; in addition, market is starting to take off.

Lettuce Report: Iceberg market is level but with Christmas approaching we might see supply get a little tight.  Romaine prices are coming down, and quality is good.

Berry News: Strawberries are still a challenge due to weather conditions, which is putting us in a high market.  Supply is hopefully going to improve over the next several weeks.  Blackberries are still the better buy.  Raspberries are up slightly but quality is good.  Blueberries are steady and we are seeing good quality on Blueberries.

Fruit Report: Cantaloupes are holding firm on their prices.  The desert season has come to an end, in addition,  we are seeing offshore product being sold in the market.  Supplies will hopefully increase by next week.  Honeydew prices are starting to take off, with off shore and Mexican product being tight.  Orange market is steady but heavy fog is starting to hurt 88’s, 113’s, and 138’s supplies.  Bartlett season has ended but D’Anjou and Bosc varieties are available with good quality.  Red Seedless grapes prices will start to take off over the next several weeks as we transition from domestic to Chilean fruit.  The Green Seedless Grapes are starting to slowly show signs of taking off in price. Rainier Cherries are a good buy in the market right now.  Coming out of Chile, and have a very good taste to them.

Vegetable Report: Asparagus prices are starting to take off and supply is good.  Green Bell Peppers are steady, but with current weather conditions we will start to see slow down in supply.  Cauliflower market will begin to rise by next week.  Broccoli market is starting to dip; demand is weak, supplies have increased, but are expected to come down if cool weather continues.  Winter squash is winding down fast.  Broccolini supplies will be very limited due to rain.  Celery prices are starting to rise.  Squash flowers will be in short supply due to the rains.  Onion market is steady.  There are good supplies of colors and sizes.  Carrot market remains steady and supply is good.  Cucumber market has made a dramatic turn upward, because of high demand and low supply.  Expect this to last for a couple of weeks.

As with all fresh fruits and vegetables, the market could change daily . . .
