Stone
Fruit: There is good availability of Chilean Peaches, Nectarines, White Peaches, White Nectarines, Saturn Peaches, Plums and Apricots; quality is very good. Bing and Rainier Cherries are very nice; prices are unchanged... |
Tomato
Report: Once again slow demand is dictating lower prices; quality of two Layer, Loose, Cherry, Teardrop, Grape, and Roma Tomatoes is excellent and prices are coming off. Cluster Tomatoes are loosening up too and prices are beginning to slip.... |
Lettuce
Report: Iceberg and leaf prices were firming up last week but have since done an about face; prices are low. Spinach quality is improving; prices are unchanged; Mescaline, Baby Spinach and Baby Arrugula have settled in; supply is good and lower prices have been restored.... |
Berry
News: Strawberries; quality is very nice but may take a hit with the rainy weather; prices are firm and with Valentines Day lurking around the corner they should stay there. Long Stem Strawberries are in the same boat but if the weather stays nice they should not be a problem. Raspberries and Blackberries remain short and prices are remaining quite high. Blueberries are still the best alternative; quality is good and prices are low… |
Fruit
Report: Apples and Pears: Supply and quality remain good. Avocados: Availability of California fruit is; prices are unchanged. Citrus: No change on Texas Grapefruit and Valencia oranges; Lemon prices are off moderately except for small fruit; Limes prices are unchanged; California Navel oranges are very good; prices are low. Grapes: Chilean Green and Red Grape quality is very good; prices are down; Black seedless is now available. Cantaloupes are better this week; prices are off; Honeydew melons are the problem this week; quality is mediocre to poor, availability is short, and prices are firm. Maui pineapples are much improved in quality; prices are down. We also have good South American pineapples available too.... |

Report: Artichokes: Frost damage is less prominent and supplies are better except for loose chokes; prices remain high. Asparagus: Growers are long and Mexican grass is very good; prices have dropped significantly. Blue Lake Beans: Mexican bean quality good; prices are up; Chinese Long Beans remain short; prices are high. Broccoli and Cauliflower: Supplies are better; prices are much lower. Celery: availability is good; prices are down. Cabbage: Prices are unchanged. Carrots: Prices are unchanged. Cucumbers: Supplies are good and prices are off; Hothouse cucumbers are down too. Eggplant: Globe prices are unchanged; Japanese, Italian, and Chinese eggplant are still short; quality is mediocre and prices are strong. Onions: Brown, red, and white onions prices are low; Green Onions are prices are back to normal. Peppers: Green, Red, and Gold Bells are all easing up in price; quality is excellent. Green and Gold Zucchini: Quality is good and prices are lower but we expect this market to rebound. Straightneck Squash: Quality is good; prices are low... |
